Bizarre and Fascinating Secrets of the Wild You Wouldn’t Know Without This Trail Cam Footage
Deer Family Dinner
We never realized that deer ate meals together as a family at dining tables. That's something that people do all the time. Deer are particularly gregarious animals, though, and you can almost always see them as a herd. They talk to each other about fear, rage, boredom, and excitement, so it's not surprising that they copy some things that people do.
Battle for the Feeder
The picture shows a raccoon and a deer fighting under an automatic feeder. The deer seems to be winning because it has the raccoon pinned on the ground, but the outcome is still up in the air. But they are not foes for life. The only thing they're fighting about is food.
Raccoons consume a lot of the same things as Bambis do, like corn, blackberries, and persimmons. They normally try to consume them at the same time as the deer, which is probably what started this conflict. Growing Deer TV says that a lot of trail camera pictures of raccoons show animals fighting deer for food.
