Risks of bacteria You undoubtedly already know that there is a lot of cheese in the U.S. When you go to the shop, you'll see so many different kinds of cheese that you won't know which one to get. But have you ever observed that the cheese counter never has any unpasteurized cheese? That's because it's illegal in the U.S. because of the microbial concerns that come with it.  

Some people still say that unpasteurized cheeses can cause hazardous bacteria that could make someone very sick, even though scientific study seems to say otherwise. Americans don't want to take the chance.
