Google Street View’s Top Encounters Captured on Camera

Really Scary Scarecrows

Some pictures from Google Street View don't address any of your inquiries. This picture of a field in the Finnish countryside is a great example of that. It displays a frightening army of scarecrows that stretches the length of the field! But since this Street View was taken in 2011, the internet has helped us figure out what was really going on here. This strange exhibit was actually part of an art project by Reijo Kela named "The Silent People," it seems.

It was built to honor all the people from Finland and Soviet Russia who fought and died in a conflict between 1939 and 1940.
