How to Turn Any Hotel Stay Into a Relaxation Retreat

Tipping the Staff Can Get You Far

You want an upgrade, but you don't want to spend a lot of money on it? The conventional $20 bill that came with your card might do the trick. At the end of the day, you haven't got anything to lose (except perhaps $20). But if they can conduct an upgrade without anyone knowing, a little persuading couldn't hurt. But this is one of those things that depends on the hotel and who works at the front desk.

Put it this way: Even if they actually can't provide you the precise perk you're looking, it doesn't hurt to be in the staff's good books for the the rest of your stay. Just stay cool and collected. Be yourself. You'll make them nervous if you're nervous.
