Japanese Life Rules That Might Seem Foreign To Visitors

Taxis Have Automatic Doors In Japan

Taxis are common in most countries throughout the world, and Japan is no different. A traveler in Japan wouldn't be too surprised by Japanese cabs because they're just like taxis in other nations, except for one exception. The doors to Japanese cabs open on their own, and they are automatic. Because of this, passengers should wait for the doors to open for them instead of opening them themselves.

Even if you're in a rush, you shouldn't open the door yourself because it could be seen as unfriendly or disrespectful to the taxi driver. The doors normally don't take long to open on their own either.
