Japanese Life Rules That Might Seem Foreign To Visitors

Everyone Has Bathroom Slippers In Japan

Most households in Japan don't allow shoes, therefore guests take off their shoes when they get there and leave them by the entrance. Because of this, most people have a pair of bathroom slippers that they let people wear when they go to the bathroom. Anyone who comes to the house can wear these slippers, but they should be returned back where they were found because that's the polite thing to do.

It's also disrespectful to roam around the house in these slippers, so if you ever go to a home in Japan, leave them in the bathroom.
