Massive Things People With Megalophobia Might Want to Steer Away From

The Dreamy yet Menacing Mont Saint Michel

This town and cathedral remind me of the Disney emblem or any other castle from a fairy tale. Mount Saint Michel is a tidal island and mainland commune in France. It stands out against a completely flat horizon. It's about a kilometer (just over half a mile) from the mainland. We think its size is even bigger because it's so far away from everything else. The emptiness around it makes it look huge!

In reality, though, Mont Saint Michel only has 33 people living there and is less than four square kilometers (just over 1.5 miles) big. Which isn't that big for our globe!
