Some of the Tell Tale Signs That a Tourist Traveling Abroad Is American

Big Tips Are an American Thing

Different places and countries have different customs when it comes to tipping. In the US, it's highly common to tip and many people think it's necessary. Also, they provide a lot of money as tips, sometimes more than 25%. This is not the case in most other countries, to say the least. If you do tip, it's normally a considerably lower amount, and you don't have to do it for every meal or service.

If you witness someone giving a lot of money to a cab driver or a restaurant worker while you're in another country, you can be very sure they're from the United States.
