Peter Mansbridge was the public face of CBC News for almost 30 years and is a well-respected journalist. He was the main reporter and anchor of "The National" from 1988 to 2017. During that period, he earned 12 Gemini Awards for excellence in broadcasting, including the Gordon Sinclair Award for the best overall reporter in 1990 and 1998.

Mansbridge has won a number of honorary degrees and lifetime achievement awards, among other things. Mansbridge has received the highest accolades from both the Order of Canada and the Canadian News Hall of Fame: Officer and Member, respectively.

Allison Smith – Age 53 – Born in New York, United States

Allison Smith played Mallory O'Brien on the Emmy-winning NBC show "The West Wing." This was years after she played the title character in the original Broadway musical "Annie." Smith made her TV debut on the NBC sitcom "Silver Spoons" when she was only 14 years old. She also played Jennie Lowell on "Kate & Allie" and Ellen in the first episode of "The Closer" in 2005, both of which were important roles for her on TV. She has had important roles in theater shows like "The Education of Randy Newman" and "Evita," where she co-starred with Mandy Patinkin and Patti Lupone. Smith's most recent appearance on screen was in the 2020 episode of "Will & Grace."
