Unique Ramadan Traditions From Across the World

Indian Muslims Receive a Special Wake-Up Call

India is no different from any other country in that it has its unique Ramadan traditions. Muslims in New Delhi have been waking up the same way since the Mughal era, thanks to the "seheriwalas" or "zohridaars." These people are the town criers and are responsible for rousing up Muslims with prayers and the words of the Quran.

This seheriwalas's task is to wake up the neighborhood before dawn prayer so that everyone can have suhoor and eat breakfast before the sun comes up.
