Unique Ramadan Traditions From Across the World

Roman Muslims Play the Drums

You might not know this, but about half of the people in Albania are Muslim. This means that if you go there during Ramadan, you'll be able to see celebrations. For example, every day at sunrise and sunset, many Roma Muslims will go out into the streets and play special ballads to mark the beginning and end of fasting. Most of the time, they use traditional drums.

These "lodra" drums are usually red and coated in animal hide. A lot of Muslims like to listen to these melodies with their friends and family to make the occasion even more special.
