Unique Ramadan Traditions From Across the World

Drummers Walk Through the Streets of Turkey

Many Muslim traditions have been around for hundreds of years, and Turkey is no different. In fact, some neighborhoods in Turkey have been following the same traditions since the Ottoman Empire, and they still honor this legacy today. For example, these neighborhoods have their own drummer who wears traditional Ottoman clothes and walks around the streets banging drums to wake people up for their morning prayers.

The "davul" drum they bang is also traditional. It has been around for hundreds of years and is an important part of faith, music, keeping time, and traditional Ramadan culture in the country.
