Unique Ramadan Traditions From Across the World

Indonesian Students Are Given a Week off

Fasting during the day can be very hard on the body, and it can take Muslims a week or so to get used to not eating or drinking during this time. That's why the Indonesian government lets school and college students take a week off from their studies for a whole week before going back to class during Ramadan. They want their students to get used to how hard it is on their bodies before going back to class.

They also prepare parties and feasts to celebrate the end of the month. These frequently involve traditional drums called "Al Bodok." Family and friends usually dance to these drums.
